Sunderbruch Park Trails & Fairmont Cemetery (Davenport, IA)
Sunderbruch park is a gem of a trail system for the QCA. I think of it as a ‘Choose Your Own Adventure” option, with walking, biking, and equestrian trails, and even a way to extend your walk beyond the park.
Wooded Mountain Biking Trails
The best part about Sunderbruch, in my opinion, is the many miles of bike trails winding through the park. As a hiker, you’ll have to be on alert and ready to step out of the way when a bike is coming, but it’s so worth it to get out on dirt trail versus paved trail.
My favorite section is at the southwest corner of the park. I have gotten semi-lost back there a couple of times. In an awesome way, not in a scary way. The first photo above showcases the ‘green tunnel’ vibes back in that area.
Main Paved Path (Dan Sherman Trail)
If you’re just looking for a quick, paved trail, you can take the main paved path that runs through the park.
Main Paved Path (Dan Sherman Trail) + Fairmont Cemetery add-on
If you have a little more time, but aren’t looking to head off into the bike trails due to trail conditions or just personal preference, you can walk the main paved path and extend your walk by popping over to Fairmont Cemetery. This is a really cool, old cemetery. Besides the mature trees and unique headstones, I’ve also seen deer and fox here!
